Today, Mirambo Grounds in Nakawa East came alive with passion, color, and purpose as thousands gathered for the official launch of Beatrice Mao’s campaign for Lord Mayor of Kampala. The atmosphere was electric — filled with chants, music, and the unmistakable energy of citizens ready to see a new Kampala rise.
In her address, Beatrice Mao emphasized that Kampala’s transformation will not come from talk, but from action. She spoke with conviction about a cleaner, safer, and more organized city where every division and market thrives under fair systems of service delivery.
“Our work begins here,” she said. “From Nakawa East to Rubaga, from Makindye to Kawempe — Kampala must become a model city for all Ugandans. A city that works, cleans, and grows with its people.”
The campaign launch was more than a political event — it was a statement of direction. Traders, boda boda riders, youth groups, and community leaders joined hands in solidarity, showing that real change begins when citizens unite.
The rally also highlighted Mao’s core agenda for waste management, urban order, infrastructure renewal, and inclusive economic growth, aligning with the broader goal of ensuring that every neighborhood in Kampala receives equal attention and resources.

As the sun set over Nakawa, the message was clear: a new Kampala is possible — one that listens, plans, and delivers.
The campaign will now move across all divisions of Kampala, starting in Nakawa East and continuing citywide in the coming weeks.
Just as the crowd’s cheers rose to a peak, Hon. Norbert Mao — husband to Beatrice Mao, current Cabinet Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs and Democratic Party President — arrived to a thunderous welcome. His words echoed through the grounds with conviction and warmth:
“Let’s do something we have never done before — let’s place the first Lady Lord Mayor in the history of Kampala.”His arrival energized the already charged atmosphere, symbolizing unity, belief, and the power of partnership behind this campaign. Together, their message resonated deeply — this is not just Beatrice’s journey, but a shared mission to make history and reshape Kampala’s future.
